An initiative to empower youth for economic prosperity

Omituntun Enterprise Skills Development Programme is a visionary initiative designed to equip young individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the entrepreneurial landscape. This innovative program aims to foster economic growth, reduce unemployment, and promote sustainable development in Oyo State.

It is an all encompassing programme targeted at young unemployed
graduates who may already have skills and are interested in building a business of
their skill (making profit from their skills).

This entrepreneurship training will build capacity in various areas, inculcating an
entrepreneurial attitude and making beneficiaries become entrepreneurs, rather
than just having a business skill

Objectives:

– Provide training and mentorship in entrepreneurship, business management, and industry-specific skills
– Enhance the capacity of young entrepreneurs to start, grow, and sustain businesses
– Foster innovation, creativity, and leadership among program participants
– Promote economic empowerment and job creation among youth in Oyo State
-To enhance human capital development that yields sustainable and
profitable output for the beneficiary and the state.
– To identify and build a generation of young persons who are genuinely
interested in their personal development, entrepreneurial acumen and their
impact in the society.
– To train 500 unemployed graduates on leadership, entrepreneurship,
business development and life skills
-To award a business start-up grant to 500 beneficiaries

STRATEGY:
Beneficiaries will be drawn from each of the five zones (Oke-Ogun,
Ogbomosho, Ibarapa, Ibadan, Oyo); TOTAL BENEFICIARIES WILL BE 500

The training will be decentralized (taken to centres identified within each
Zone).

The flag off will be done in Ibadan

BASIC CRITERIA:

Indigene of Oyo State
Be a graduate (BSc or HND as minimum)
Interested to be an entrepreneur (either already running a business or is interested to
own one)
• Must have completed NYSC
Not older than 35years
Not less than 22

THE FOCUS:
4 days intensive training
1. Attitudinal re-orientation; inculcating enterprise-attitude into
beneficiaries
2. Identification of a good business idea; knowing what to do
3. Business management skills; business finance, managing
resources, bookkeeping, business plan development, business
evaluation, customer management, marketing, value chain analysis, pitching, etc
